Hydrate inhibition strategies for gas fields

  Requried MEG concentration is 25 wt%, resulting lean MEG (80wt%) injection 10932.7 kg/h.

  Kinetic Hydrate Inhibitor (KHI) is preferred below MEG concentration 20 wt%

  PVCap based KHI prevented hydrate formation for 20 hrs. (c.f. Fuilds residence time – 4.7 h)

CO2 storage tanks

  Korean companies are seeking foreign CO2 injection sites

  SK E&S will join Baye-Undan CCS operated by Santos by transporting captured CO2 in KOREA

  Liquid CO2 is stored in stored in storage tanks under – 50℃ and 7 bar until it reaches Darwin CO2 hub

DongHae CCS Project

  Issue 1. Composition of CO2 gas stream is not fixed yet, CO2 hub platform is under consideration.

  Issue 2. Operation pressure of transport pipelines is not fixed yet, under analysis with OLGA.

  Issue 3. Hydrate formation risk is not analyzed thoroughly yet for both pipeline and WBH.

Dry ice formation experiments

  Autocalve was filled with liquid CO2 and blowdown is commenced at triple point.

  When liquid CO2 reaches – 57℃, solid particles were observed in liquid phase.

  Temperature reached – 78℃ due to JT cooling and solid CO2 was formed from gas-liquid interface.
